Caldwell Shooting Supplies XLA Pivot Bipod

Caldwell XLA Bipods provide a stable shooting support that conveniently attaches to almost any firearm with a sling swivel stud. The lightweight aluminum design adds minimal weight and deploys quickly. The legs are designed to instantly spring out to the shooting position with the touch of a button, and are notched for easy indexing to a specific height. The XLA Pivot Bipods are available in four heights and can be purchased in both black and camo. The Pivot Model is ideal in the real world of hunting. The chances of the ideal shot opportunity occurring while on level ground are slim to none. A pivoting bipod allows the shooter to compensate for ground that is not level up to 20 degrees. The lower portion of the bipod pivots independently from the upper stock mount, allowing the firearm to be quickly leveled on uneven ground. The tension knob can be adjusted to control the resistance of the pivoting motion. A rock solid shot has never been easier!

The Caldwell XLA Bipods® offer a secure shooting support that easily connects to nearly any firearm equipped with a sling swivel stud. These bipods firmly clamp onto the firearm's swivel stud, ensuring a stable position without swiveling or twisting during shooting. Featuring a lightweight aluminum design, they add minimal weight and deploy swiftly, with legs that spring out to the shooting position at the press of a button. The legs are notched for effortless height adjustment, and there's a connection point for sling attachment. The bipods come with multi-section legs that collapse forward, facilitating the convenient carry of the firearm. Enhanced stability is provided by soft rubber feet, and the padded bipod base safeguards the firearm's forend. They are available in four heights, in black or camo, and are offered in both standard and pivoting models.

Not sure if they messed up on the size of the square the holding pins and arms go through, but this does not get tight on the gun. Very poor design on the latching mech. Seemed like good metal and seemed like it would last if able to use it. The lean function, even when fully tightened would easily lean to either side. I was very excited for this bi-pod but am very disappointed. Will be sending back and trying another brand.

    It'll fit the bill. One thing to consider though is that if you plan to sling carry over the shoulder and don't have a heavy jacket on, it DIGS into your shoulder, alot. I'm crafting up a leather buffer piece to try and alleviate some of the pokeyness. I'd imagine with just a t-shirt on you'd bleed out in short order.

    Update: There is another point that will serve as a sling mount point a bit further down. It is still not the most comfortable but it's better. Still going to craft up some form of additional padding. See second picture.

    Was real disappointed. Usually Caldwell is a good brand, I’ve loved their products. But this bipod was a fail. I loved the height and the leg deployment. However first time out in the field coyote hunting it fell off my gun when I adjusted my position. Luckily it didn’t happen while I was walking with the gun slung over my shoulder. I thought it was my fault so when I got home I tightened it down with a pair of pliers and it felt snug. Next time out I’m getting up to change locations and bipod just falls off. I put it back on, start hiking to my next stand. I was holding the gun cuz I was worried it would come unattached while on the sling. Bipod fell off again while walking. Long story short it fell off 6 times on that trip. On closer inspection, even when the screw that tightens the clasp for the sling attachment is tight the clasp still opens and closes. Was pretty bummed. Overall the bipod is well built, sturdy and of excellent quality for the price. However the fact that it won’t stay attached makes it absolutely worthless. Fix that and I will be the first in line to buy it.

    I like the length on them. I can sit on the ground and aim comfortably. I’m not crazy about how it attaches to the sling mount on the rifle though. No matter how much I tighten it it seems to come off every once and a while and needs to be reinstalled at inopportune times. That’s why I give it 3 stars. Maybe it’s just me I don’t know but I have struggled with it a little. Otherwise the quality of the actual material it’s made out of is high.

    Arrived in good conditions and should work as well as the previous two I got. This one is for a Xmas gift. I thought the camo design would look better, but it is ok since this is to shoot at long distance, camo dont realy matter.

    After use a couple of times only, the whole thing (sling and bipod) came off while walking with the rifle on the shoulder. Fortunately it did not damaged the scope or the rifle, because of the snow cover on the round. The same thing happened again shortly after, even though we made sure the bipod and the sling had been attached properly as per the users manual. Cannot trust the sling attachement when carrying the rifle on your shoulder.

    I really like this bipod. It’s on my coyote gun and is quick and easy to adjust to different heights. Locks into notches firmly and doesn’t creep down like my knock off one does. Definitely recommend it for the serious hunter or possibility even sport shooter. It pivots at the gun so if the ground is uneven it doesn’t matter. No fiddling with the legs trying to level out the gun for long accurate shots. Definitely recommend to any shooter. New or experienced.
