    The Britzgo is a major breakthrough because it will operate on 1.5 volt. This extends the battery life to a week or more. However I have two that have failed in the last six month. I bought new ones because I can't find anything better. It need a smaller speaker and a way to visually determine the volume setting. That is the reason for a rotating knob on most audio amplifiers.       I highly recommend this. It has been over a month since I ordered this device and I am still very pleased with how it is working. I am 62 years young and my hearing is not all that bad except in certain auditory ranges. Still, I was getting tired of the constant: "What?" "Excuse me?" "Pardon me?" and "Huh?" - especially around home and at my office. I was looking at getting a hearing test with the intent of buying aids for thousands of dollars. You can get a lot of these things for the price of one hearing aid. My mother and numerous others I have spoken with were not all that happy with their hearing aid experience. So I took a chance, followed the suggestion of a friend, and got this instead. It is truly wonderful. As some reviewers have said, the draw back is that it amplifies EVERY thing, so I do not use it constantly. Around my home I was disappointed that it amplified the fan overhead and the air vent noise really well -- but when you are trying to hear someone talking that really gets in the way. Likewise, I cannot use it in my car while driving - my hearing is fine for that. You can't believe how noisy a car is! And the kitchen is definitely off limits - every clank and clack of pots and pans or silverware becomes 'gun shot' loud. It drives me nuts. But being able to watch a DVD or listen to music on the stereo without entertaining the neighbors down the street is terrific. And taking this thing hiking is absolutely wonderful - to hear the birds, the wind in the trees, your foot fall in grass or gravel - is truly a joy. Of course, using it in my office to hear my soft-spoken clients has been both a blessing and essential. For the money this is a genuine value. It appears well made, has a good guarantee (though there are conflicts in the literature between one and two years) and seems well worth the investment. I do not understand why everyone seems fixated on the packaging? I guess the nice box shows something of the care of the manufacturer -- it is just marketing to me. This device really delivers good results and is ideal for folks whose hearing is not all that bad.

      My expensive hearing aid broke after several years so I tried this hearing aid as a quick fix. This low cost hearing aid works will in amplifying sound in a quiet setting making one-on-one conversation hearable It doesn't work so well in a busy restaurant as there as so many sounds which mix & become louder (easy fix - remove hearing aid while in a noisy place). I especially like using this in my home and weekend 'Bed & Breakfast' as I can clearly hear my guests - which is just what I was looking for....it also works well with the television so I don't have to turn it up so loud.

      When my old hearing aid developed a short circuit (from another company) it left me with a big problem. Rechargeables simply don't last long enough for me, and I was surprised at how few battery powered options I had. My days run (in ear) 12 hours easy. 4-6 hours on a recharge battery wasn't going to help me. And i've done the switch out routine on rechargeable types. That gets old quick. And you lose them eventually-somewhere!. So I needed one just like the old one. But while I found a lot with batteries, most of them don't have an on/off switch. That means pull the battery hatch cover. That means LOST batteries. Been there-done it. So an on/off switch was a must for me. And i've already had ones that used non amps in the earbud. Those can have a hollow sound. So I needed one also with an amp in the ear. I been using hearing aids for the last 30 years, so I knew exactly what I was looking for. And this fit the bill. The color is more of a pleasing light metallic blue. The rubber is pretty soft and flexible, so getting it to bend around in ur ear isn't much of a problem. After a day or 2, the rubber seems to understand which way you want it to twist. The mushroom earpieces, my advice here is simply to get some ear buds, and use the rubber ear pieces on ur hearing aids. They fit a lot better then the supplied mushroom pieces will. And they don't slip out as easy. But anyway, the hearing aid itself will come essentially at zero sound output. U'll have to crank it up and mess with the mode settings to see which you need. That process took me about all of 5 minutes. And since they seem to come at zero sound, make sure you crank it up first. Most of my hearing aids over the last few years came with some volume at start up, but not this kind. So, before you decide they are broke, you may have to mess with it some. Not worth taking any stars off. Anyone that's had hearing aids knows you have to mess with them a few minutes to find just the right sound level and quality. No big deal. So far the hearing aid, and it's supplied batteries are working pretty well. No issues of sound quality, or battery life. So, overall, a very good hearing aid.
