Hiking, camping, and emergency pack for the car! Very pleased with this pack!
I go camping and hiking quite a bit and I always take a backpack with some survival gear in it no matter how short or long I go. I probably go a little "over kill" on the gear but I'll only carry what is comfortable to walk with. My previous backpack was a Kelty "Redwing" that I picked up from a sporting goods store. It was more expensive than the 3V Velox II, but I've used it for a few years now and it has held up pretty good. What I didn't like about the Redwing pack is that it was a little big and cumbersome. I never could get the compression straps to really hold the gear down inside very well either. I also felt that it never had enough compartments for me to put smaller items in.For a replacement pack, I decided to try one that was a little smaller in size, MOLLE compatible, and had more smaller pockets to store items. I also wanted something that had a separate compartment for hydration. I was also looking for something that was affordable without sacrificing too much for quality. The research eventually brought me to the 3V Gear Velox II tactical backpack. I was also thinking that maybe when I am not camping/hiking, I could reduce the contents of my pack down a little bit and keep this in the trunk of my vehicle when I travel a little further from home for emergency purposes. Anyway, I ordered this and I couldn't be more pleased. When comparing it to my Redwing pack, there is a difference is height and width. The Velox is smaller but as you start packing it, the capacity fattens the bag more than the Redwing. There are also more compartments and storage spaces in this and I like the fact that I can add even more accessories with the MOLLE system. I was interested to see if I could take everything out of my bigger pack and put it more snuggly in the Velox. The pictures show all of the stuff I took out of my old bag and put into the Velox. It's a lot of stuff and I still could cram a few more items in if I wanted. The compression straps work a little better with the Velox and they are very easy to adjust. Both bags are plenty tough and the Velox seems about equal with my old pack. I see no problems with stitching and the materials used (zippers, fabric, velcro, etc) are all satisfactory. Giving it an exaggerated "run away from the zombies" test proved to be successful as the bag feels comfortable and I didn't feel my gear shifting around on the inside. The hydration compartment is plenty big and will hold my 3 liter bag (top of it sticking out a little bit). I will probably use one of my smaller ones for this pack however. The bag came with a grey American flag patch but I switched it out for one that stands out a little bit better. It's still a nice patch however and decided to use that one on a tactical vest that I bought recently for target shooting at the range. This is definitely a nice pack and it will serve my needs very well. It has plenty of room for all of my gear and it feels comfortable enough to take hiking, camping, and will probably start finding use as an emergency pack for the car. I recommend.

First of all, I am a gear junkie. I love buying stuff like this to use in my various setups.

THIS IS A GREAT BUDGET TACTICAL BACKPACK!! This is a copy of a Maxpedition Falcon II backpack, and overall it gets about an 8.0/10 when compared to genuine Maxpedition. Why a 5-star rating, then, and not a 4-star, you ask? Because the price is only 40% of what you would pay for the Maxped. The high value to cost ratio rates it a 5-star rating from me, and I would recommend this pack to anyone without hesitation.

All seams are double sewn throughout, with very few stray threads. The carry handle uses box reinforced stitching for extra strength. Zippers are large and satisfactory, and while not YKK brand, they should be serviceable for this pack. Zipper pulls are commercial nylon cordage, not paracord. The zippers are not sewn inverted as in some other bags, so there is no protection from water or dust entering the zipper.

Organization is exactly as laid out in the Maxpedition original. Which is to say, I think it strikes the right balance between too much and nothing at all. The main compartment clamshells open all the way, for easy access to your primary gear, whether clothing, a laptop, or whatever. Other compartments and pockets have ample storage for all your EDC items. Cinch straps on the sides secure the pack nice and slim when not loaded to full capacity.

I do not intend to ever utilize the front Y-strap or the waist belt, so I removed both those items. Removal was easy, and they are easily reattached, should I wish to do so in the future. When I did a test fit of the waist belt, it seemed to ride too high on my body, which contributed to my decision to remove the belt. Shoulder straps have ample padding, and include webbing and plastic D-rings for attachment of small gear. The sternum strap does not ride too high, and has a bit of elastic for easy adjustment.

My one complaint about the bag is the stitching of the PALS webbing, or MOLLE. The PALS webbing rows are properly spaced at 1-inch intervals, but the stitching to separate the columns is very slightly uneven on the front. On the sides, the story is even worse. The side PALS webbing is stitched so there are three columns of webbing, where there is only room for two. That means you in effect only have one usable column of PALS webbing on each side of the bag, as the other two columns are too narrow to fit any attachments. However, this one minor design flaw does not detract from the overall quality of the bag enough for me to remove a star from the rating.

Overall, the quality of this bag approaches that of bags which cost twice or three times the price of the 3V Gear Velox II. I can and will recommend this backpack without hesitation, especially to anyone looking for a high quality tactical backpack at a budget price.

This is my first tactical backpack. I was going to buy the Rush 24 on Tombstone Tactical's website but they were out of it at the time. This pack is amazing! Everything is double stitched and made out of tough nylon. The front of the bag has 2 smaller sized compartments where you can put quick access items such as knives, flints, pens, really whatever you would carry in your pants pocket. There are 2 big main compartments, with the smaller one being big enough for a tablet or small sized laptop with a couple of pockets sewn in. The bigger or main compartment you could easily put a 17" laptop in it and it has a mesh pocket (I currently keep 2 pair of Mechanix gloves, a bottle of sunscreen and insect repellant in it). Also there is a smaller sized zip pocket in the main compartment that you can keep some small useful tools in (screwdrivers, knives, flashlights, etc). This pack also has the bladder pocket which is secured by Velcro. The 4 tie down straps work great for compressing the sides of the bag and there are 2 straps at the very bottom of the bag so if you had a small tent or sleeping bag, you could securely tie it down and keep your hands free. You can even remove the front tie down strap that you see on the front of the pack as well as remove the hip strap. I took both of mine off so there would be less straps hanging out; I can always put them back on if need be. All in all I am very happy with this purchase. Also when I purchased the bag, 2 patches were sent to me; The 3V patch as shown in the picture was included as well as an American Flag patch. VERY nice surprise!
